Privacy Policy

Nook is operated by Mainak Pandit, a sole proprietor based in India (“Nook”, “we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions go to support@getnook.tech.
What we collect
- Account data. Nook sign-in is Google only. Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with us.
- Your nooks. What you save: links, page content, highlighted text, screenshots, images, notes, and text or transcripts we extract from supported sources such as YouTube, X, LinkedIn and Reddit. We also store when and from which surface you saved each nook.
- Questions you ask. The questions you put to Ask and the answers Nook returns.
- WhatsApp. If you link WhatsApp, we store your phone number only as a hash, and we process the messages you send to the Nook number to create nooks.
- Connector tokens. If you connect Nook to an MCP client, we store only a hash of each token.
- Billing data. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. We receive your subscription status and billing history. We never see your full card number.
- Usage and device data. Aggregated, cookieless page analytics and performance measurements for this website, plus technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) that our hosting keeps for security and reliability.
- Correspondence. What you send us when you email us.
How we use it
- To run Nook: save, process, tag and search your nooks, and answer your questions from them.
- To manage your account, trial and subscription, and to send service emails about them.
- To keep Nook secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the website and product are used so we can improve them.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Our legal bases under GDPR are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, your consent where we ask for it, and legal obligation. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your nooks for advertising.
AI processing
To summarize and tag your nooks and to answer your questions, Nook sends the relevant content to third-party AI model providers. Ask answers only from your own library. If it finds nothing, it can search the web for that one question, and only if you ask it to. In that case your question is sent to a web search provider.
Who processes your data
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run Nook, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Hosting, content delivery and website analytics (Vercel)
- Sign-in (Google)
- Payments and tax (Dodo Payments, merchant of record)
- Messaging (WhatsApp, operated by Meta), if you link it
- AI model providers and, when you opt in, a web search provider
- Database and file storage, email delivery, and error monitoring providers
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Nook. Some of these providers process data outside your country. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Your nooks are yours for as long as your account exists. We never delete them because a trial ended, a plan lapsed or you went quiet. A nook you delete sits in trash for 30 days, then we remove it permanently. When you delete your account, we remove your data from our systems, except for limited records, such as billing records, that the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can export all of your data and delete your account at any time from inside Nook, on any plan. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict how we process it, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email support@getnook.tech. We won’t treat you differently for using them. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls and hashing of phone numbers and tokens. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
Nook is not for children under 13, or under the minimum age for consent where you live. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
